ALBEDO Dead Mouse Free Download

ALBEDO Dead Mouse Free Download

Fiat music contest on Facebook.

Cast your vote by downloading “DeadMouse” for free.

It was the 5-Year Anniversary of my album “7th Heaven”
last week. So, I decided to submit my most popular song from
the album “Dead Mouse” to a Fiat contest on Facebook. You can
cast your vote by downloading it for free at the link below.
Obviously you have to be logged in to Facebook to do it.

Fiat is looking for the next big thing in music and they need
your help. Cast your vote for the band you think should win by
downloading your favorite songs. The 50 bands (10 from each
genre) with the most votes will receive great prizes from the FIAT
brand and one will have the chance to win an appearance on
VH1’s Top 20 Video Countdown airing on December 14th!

“7th Heaven” by ALBEDO is a dance album which contains
a blend of synthetic and live instruments, described by a fan as:
"Mannheim Steamroller goes to the club!". It's similar in style to
Daft Punk, Mannheim Steamroller, and Yanni.

After 5 years “7th Heaven” is still my top selling album, but
the Christmas album is slowly closing the gap so it may not last
for much longer. The most popular song from the album is called
“Dead Mouse” and has over 60,000 combined views on You Tube.
It has been mostly popular in the UK and across Europe. They love
their dance music over there!

Thanks for your vote!

New Album ALBEDO Magitek Released Today! Music from Final Fantasy VI.

New ALBEDO Album Released Today!

Magitek: Music from Final Fantasy VI.

http://www.albedomusic.com/albedomagitekfinalfantasyvi.html

My new album “Magitek: Music from Final Fantasy VI” was just released today! It will go live on iTunes on November 22, 2013.

The album is a collection of songs by Nobuo Uematsu from Final Fantasy VI, recorded in a new age style similar to Mannheim Steamroller and Yanni. This album is the accumulation of hundreds of hours of hard work, and I hope you'll enjoy it whether you play video games or not. So, it really means a lot to me. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for being part of it!

Final Fantasy, for those of you who are unfamiliar, is a role playing video game series that was originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1987. Final Fantasy VI is obviously the 6th game in the series and was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. The music was written by Nobuo Uematsu. Who, by the way, is a big fan of the Fresh Aire series by Chip Davis of Mannheim Steamroller, and if you couldn't tell I am as well. You don't have to play the games to enjoy the music. Confession: Technically, I've never actually played the Final Fantasy games, but I love the music from them. So, I myself am a very good example of that. I'm familiar with the music because I know many people who have played the games, and I've also watched them being played many times.

Enjoy the new album!

Carol of the Birds cover by ALBEDO

Carol of the Birds by Mannheim Steamroller

Cover by ALBEDO

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egdrHxNAk1s

This is the music video for the “Carol of the Birds” cover by ALBEDO on You Tube. This is a cover song I did of a Mannheim Steamroller song originally arranged by Chip Davis, but I re-arranged it for Recorder Quintet. Feel free to like the video and subscribe to my channel.

There's no need for you to be worried about me upsetting the original artist or doing things without their permission. Chip Davis himself has seen the video and enjoyed it. My friend Tom Hartig works for Chip and was the one who showed him the video. I was able to take a private tour of the Mannheim Steamroller warehouse awhile back and met a lot of great people who work there.

“Carol of the Birds” is a song from Mannheim Steamroller's first Christmas album. I don't necessarily consider it a holiday tune, since I enjoy listening to it year round. I arranged this cover song many years ago, and only recently decided to make it into a video. I have plans to make many more cover songs, but this is the first I've released.

Enjoy the video!

Music from Final Fantasy VI by ALBEDO!

Music from Final Fantasy VI by ALBEDO. Click on the link below to be a part of the project!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/albedomusic/music-from-final-fantasy-vi-by-the-new-age-artist

This fall I will be releasing a new album that will be nothing but music from Final Fantasy VI. It will be New Age arrangements of songs from the video game, similar in style to Mannheim Steamroller and Yanni. I just barely started a Kickstarter project today, so if you would like to be a part of the project please click on the link below!

For those who don't know, Kickstarter is a website where you can submit whatever project you're working on and people will donate in exchange for a reward. Usually a tangible object that has something to do with the project. A CD, T-shirt, etc. It's similar to a PBS pledge drive. “For your pledge of $100 today you will receive a blah blah blah....”. I'm pretty sure you've seen it on TV. As we speak I've already had several backers make pledges within the first few hours, so looks like it'll be pretty popular.

All of the music qualifies as cover songs, which means I need to get permission to officially release the album and be completely legal. So, I'm asking for you to help me with the cost of getting all the cover songs cleared (not cheap for 18 songs), plus the cost for CD duplication. Which is where the Kickstarter website comes in, to take care of all that stuff for me that I can't do by myself.

On a side note, those of you who will be in the Salt Lake area this week, I will be performing at Taylorsville Dayzz this Thursday, June 27th from 5:30pm to 6:00pm on the East Stage. I'll be performing some of my original works, plus other other songs. The Utah Symphony performs with the Wasatch Cannoneers at 7:30pm, so you can come watch me then save a good seat for their show. Taylorsville Dayzz is just one of those yearly celebrations that cities in Utah like to do. Carnival rides, merchant booths, car shows, parades, fireworks, music, etc. You know the drill. Hope to see you there!

Have a Great Summer!

Independent Music Awards Voice of the People

Forgotten Lands Nominated for Best Soundtrack Album

Voice of the People Vote on the Independent Music Awards Website!

http://www.independentmusicawards.com/imanominee/12th/Album/Soundtrack-Cast-Recording

In case you haven't heard yet, my album “Forgotten Lands” was recently nominated for Best Soundtrack Album by the 12th Annual Independent Music Awards. There are two parts to the Independent Music Awards: 1st is the general voting process, which is determined by an industry and artist judging panel. Which should be coming out with their final decision soon. 2nd is the Vox Populi “Voice of the People” process. This is where fans and visitors determine the winners by rating the nominees on their website. You can vote at the link below:

On another note, I'm currently working on a new album which should be released this fall if all goes well. It will be new age arrangements of music from Final Fantasy VI (a video game released for the Super Nintendo system in 1994 with music composed by Nobuo Uematsu). I've started the recording process and the rough drafts are sounding excellent! I'm planning on launching a Kickstarter (crowd funding project) in July. I will have more details in the future once it gets closer to its release date.

Have a great Memorial Day!

Representing the broad spectrum of today’s global independent music scene, the Nominees in over 80 Album, Song, Music Video and Design categories were culled from thousands of submissions from North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, Greenland and Europe.

The album “Forgotten Lands” is the soundtrack to the video game “Forgotten Lands VIII: The Legend of Shadow Lake” by TBC Productions. The game itself is a medieval fantasy written in the old classic 2D 8-bit style of the mid 1980s. The musical style ranges from ragtime to fiddle music to full orchestral score, plus many other varieties in between. A more recent classical album by the artist called “Symphony No. 1” is a five movement symphony based on the music from this album.

Eight albums have been officially released including: a tribute album called "Cliff Millward" released in 2013, which is a collection of classical works composed by Clifford Nicholas Millward (1933-2013). A new age Christmas album in 2012 that contains a collection of secular and sacred Christmas songs with live and synthetic elements. Similar in style to Mannheim Steamroller, Kurt Bestor, and Jon Schmidt. "Symphony No. 1" also released in 2012. "Forgotten Lands" in 2011. A collection of classical orchestral works by Utah composers called "Digital Fingers" in 2010. Also a dance album called "7th Heaven" in 2008, which was described by a fan as: "Mannheim Steamroller goes to the club!".

Winners of the Independent Music Awards will be determined by a panel of influential artist and industry judges including Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, Ziggy Marley, Suzanne Vega, Meshell Ndegeocello, Del McCoury, Pete Wentz, Shelby Lynne, G. Love, Jim Lauderdale, McCoy Tyner, Brandi Carlile, John Medeski & Chris Wood (Medeski, Martin & Wood), Judy Collins, Raul Midon, Andrea Marcovicci, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Bernie Worrell, Jeremy Taggart, Toots Hibbert, Dennis Diken, Joel Madden, Arturo Sandoval, Jonatha Brooke, Alan Light (Live From The Artists Den), Terry McBride (Nettwerk Music Group), Kevin Lyman (Vans Warped Tour), Jason Olaine (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Anthony DeCurtis (Rolling Stone), Dan Storper (Putumayo World Music, Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering), Bruce Iglauer (Alligator Records) and others. The results will be announced in May, 2013.

In addition to industry-determined Winners, music fans from around the world have until Friday, July 19, 2013 to cast their votes at The IMA Vox Pop Jukebox (http://www.independentmusicawards.com/imanominee/12th/Album/Soundtrack-Cast-Recording) to determine the fan-selected program winners. The Independent Music Award Winners will be promoted to nearly 1 billion music fans worldwide.

New Album Available for Free Download this Week!

Brand New Tribute Album “Cliff Millward” released today!

Available for free download for the next 7 days.

Today is the official released date of my latest album! It's called Cliff Millward and it's a tribute album. It's a collection of classical works composed by Clifford Nicholas Millward (1933-2013). Special thanks to Kelly Richardson for playing and editing the violin cadenza, to Charlotte for gathering up Cliff's music, and to Cliff's family for allowing me to do this project. Because you're so awesome, I'm offering you a free download of the album on my website for the next 7 days. Just follow the link below to download the file.

Cliff was a friend of mine who passed away back in January. He was a local Composer and Trumpet player. We performed in several groups together over the past 11 years. In fact he was usually right behind me, and I'm surprised I didn't go deaf. I always felt bad that I was not able to include one of his songs on my Digital Fingers album, which is a collection of works by Utah composers. I had always planned on recording some of his songs while he was alive, but never got around to it. Hopefully, this makes up for it, and hopefully he would be pleased by it.

Enjoy the Album!

How to Create Sheet Music

How to Create Sheet Music

Music Notation Software and Engraving

The first step is to get the music floating around in your head down on paper or digital format. You can either get a music notation program and input the music yourself, or write it out by hand and hire a professional to engrave it for you.

Music Notation Software

Music notation software is a program that enables you to create and print sheet music through the process of inputing notes on a musical staff using your mouse and keyboard. Inputing notes using a MIDI keyboard or scanning existing sheet music is also possible.

Finale and Sibelius

Finale and Sibelius are the two industry standards of music notation programs. Professionals will use one or the other. Which program you choose is really up to your personal preference. Both are excellent programs which cost around $600, and are available for both Windows and Macintosh. There are cheaper versions of each with less features that are available, with Finale having a lot more to choose from. Try not to go below $100 or you'll start risking not having the features that you'll need to notate and publish your music. If you're composing full orchestral scores then you'll need a full professional version. If you're composing something small like just a piano with vocals, then using a cheaper variation will be enough just as long as you don't get too elaborate. Discounts on the professional versions are available, but are only available to students and educators. Once the music is complete you can print it out on paper or save it as a PDF file.

Lilypond

Lilypond is a text based notation program, which means you type in a code to produce your music instead of clicking on images. It's more similar to a programming language like HTML than a traditional graphical score editing software like Finale or Sibelius. It's available for Windows, Mac, and Ubuntu Linux as a free download on their website.

Save as a PDF

Once your music score is complete you will need to save it as a PDF file. You need your sheet music in digital format so that you can publish and sell it online. For Windows users you will need some sort of PDF Printing software, so that you can save your music notation file as a PDF. Macintosh users just need to click "Print", click on "PDF" on the bottom left, then click "Save as PDF", then click "Save". Ubuntu Linux users just need to click "Print", click on "Print to File" at the top, then click "Print".

PDF Viewer/Editor

Now that your sheet music is saved as a PDF file you'll need a PDF viewer in order to view it. Windows users will need to download a Free program called Adobe Reader. There are fancier programs out there that allow you to convert, combine, and edit PDF files. One of them is called Nitro Pro.

Engraving

Engraving is taking hand-written music, inputing it into the computer, and printing it out so that it can be more easily read by musicians. If you don't want to buy a music notation program and input the notes yourself, you can write your music out by hand and hire a professional to engrave it for you. A few companies that offer this service are: Broschinsky Music, Note Smith Music, and DI Music. Prices will vary depending on how many pages the song is and also how many instruments there are. Once complete they can send it to you in PDF format.

Music Notation Software Prices:
Finale (Windows & Mac) Professional- $600, Academic- $350, Allegro- $200, Print Music- $120, Song Writer- $50, Notepad- $10
